Ralf Schumacher and Giancarlo Fisichella will be among seven drivers competing for a race seat with Force India in Spain next week.

The former Spyker team is looking for a driver to partner German Adrian Sutil, who has been retained for 2008.

Schumacher said: “Driving for a young dynamic team with high ambitions is a good opportunity.

“But at the moment it is just one test to see how we get on working together, and whether this is possible.”

But F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has suggested time was up in the sport for the two men.

“Both have been for quite a time in decent teams and should have performed better than they had,” Ecclestone said in an interview with German magazine Auto Motor und Sport.

“They ought to give very serious consideration whether it makes sense to move into a less competitive environment. Maybe if they change teams, they’ll get a bit of a wake-up call.”

Both Schumacher and Fisichella will have a full day testing alongside fellow hopefuls Christian Klien, Viantonio Liuzzi, Franck Montagny, Giedo van der Garde and Roldan Rodriguez.

The younger brother of seven-times world champion Michael Schumacher left Toyota in October after three years with the team.

Before that he enjoyed six Grand Prix wins in a 179-race career with Williams, but has so far attracted little interest in his services for 2008.

Testing for the Ferrari-powered Force India will bring Schumacher full circle having started his career at Jordan, the team renamed Midland and then Spyker, before it was bought by Indian billionaire Vijay Mallya and Dutch entrepreneur Michiel Mol.

Fisichella’s involvement, meanwhile, indicates that he will not figure in Renault’s plans for next year, after three seasons with the team.

“Whilst no drivers have been officially confirmed by Renault, the team has given me permission to explore other options,” said the 34-year-old Italian, who also raced for Jordan earlier in his career.

“I was invited to test with the Force India F1 team at Jerez and I was very happy to accept it.”

Klien and Liuzzi have both been invited to test in Jerez after impressing earlier this month at a previous test in Barcelona.

Montagny was a Toyota test driver last season and started seven races for Super Aguri in 2006, before which he spent three years as a Renault reserve. Dutchman van der Garde and Spaniard Rodriguez have no F1 experience.

You can’t blame Jenson Button for metaphorically grabbing his Honda F1 team by the lapels and giving it a damned good shaking.

Button has seen his place in affections of British F1 fans eclipsed by Lewis Hamilton after another poor season in 2007.

“The car was a complete dog, and I’m just not interested in racing like this any more,” he told the Mail on Sunday.

“I’d love to win the title with Honda but I’ve got to start winning, and if I don’t then I have to be ruthless.”

The implication is that unless a major improvement is on the cards for 2008, Button will be saying ‘sayonara’ to the Japanese team.

He collected a paltry six points in 2007, and found himself duelling with the likes of Spyker for F1′s crumbs.

And it’s not just a case of Jenson losing it. Team-mate Rubens Barrichello ended the season with a big fat ’0′ next to his name for the first time in his 14-year F1 career.

Is Button right to air his grievances in public, and can Honda deliver the great leap forward he’s demanding next season?

Kimi Raikkonen, finally was crowned the Formula One World Champion – 2007 today. Personally, being a kimi fan, I’m absolutely delighted and no words to describe my joy.

It was double delight today as the as usual lucky Alonso was not all that lucky today to win the championship (like the last two years where he won coz of sheer luck), and Kimi was crowned the champion.

The only disappoint of todays race was Hamilton did not win the championship as, he too truly deserved to be crowned the champion.

Well Hamilton, don’t worry, there’s always next time and I truly respect you for what ever you have given the formula one world in your very first championship and Formula one would not be as enjoyable as it was this year without your presence :) . You still are my true champion and so is Kimi … :)

The Honda, McLaren and Super Aguri teams, had a moment of tough time as they have each been fined 15,000 euro by Brazilian Grand Prix stewards. All the three teams broke wet-weather tyre rules during Friday’s opening practice session, as a reason of which they were fined.

Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton and Takuma Sato all used two sets of wet-weather tyres – which is clearly against the wet-weather tyre rule, which states that not more than one tyre is permitted under the Formula One sporting regulations. Luckily, the drivers themselves were not penalized for the breach.

Along with the fine, the three teams will also have to surrender the extra set of tyres that was used in order to ensure they do not benefit from having access to an additional set of part worn, or scrubbed, tyres.

McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton suffered a huge crash during the third and final qualifying round of the European Grand Prix, just a few minutes ago.

At the time of the crash, he was a good 0.186 secs quicker than rival Massa who was in his Ferrari. He was easily close to 150 miles/hr, when his front right tyre blew off. Thanks to McLaren’s heavy duty nasa body, which saved Hamiltons life.

But it is Kimi’s time as his success just seems to never let go of him during this second season of the Formula One. Well, Being a Kimi as well as Hamilton fan, I just am sitting here with mixed emotions.

I hope Hamilton  is all fine, without any major injuries and can come back and race tomorrow. If he manages to get back in his cock-pit, then he’ll start 10th on the grid. He’s got everything a champion needs and hope he makes it to the grid tomorrow and puts in some kick ass laps and finishes on the podium.

I guess it’ll be Kimi, Massa and Hamilton (provided he comes back), on the podium tomorrow, not necessarily in the same order :) .
