New Year’s almost here and I’m all set to grow into a better ME. Are you preparing yourself to grow into a better YOU, better than what you were the previous year, better than what your NOW?
Who ever you are, whatever you do, secretly, every one of you plans to grow into someone better, you dream about improving your personal or professional life a level ahead.
Planning for your success is very necessary. But are plans just enough? No! With just plans you are nowhere!!
Between Planning and Success, there is a small step, which relates them both, and that small step is called ACTION.
Planning and Taking appropriate Actions are two most critical constraints, which will decide your Success factor.
I’m one of those people who believe in starting early to avoid a mess in the last minute, which is the reason why this one is coming almost a month ahead…
If you are one of my kinds, constantly trying to improve and prosper, then I have a little tip for you.
Not too long ago, one small decision I made changed my life totally. I had read a lot about it earlier but never did I think seriously about it. I learned a little secret, which changed my life. Adopt it and it will definitely change your life too.
While you can plan on really huge improvements, and while you can swing for the grand slam, and while you can shoot for the moon, you can also strive for little, continuous victories.
Don’t plan to win the grand slam with just one swing. Plan to go easy on yourself. If you burden yourself with the work load, chances are that you might start hating the “Action†you are taking and might end up nowhere. Decide that you are going to improve but ONLY 1% per week on something. Pick one thing (big or small!) and commit to just improving 1% each and every week.
If you’re making $100 per week, then shoot for $101 by the next week. I’m sure you get the idea.
Shoot for The 1% Improvement every single week. Even with setbacks in a single week, by the end of the week, you CAN do it. You are able to improve by 1%, because 1% is what anyone can do!
Here’s the magic…
If you improve by 1% each and every week — which YOU can easily do — you’ll be up 68% in one year!
I was famous because of my inevitable failure in my math exams but do I have my math wrong now? Nope. You see, 1% x 52 weeks seems to be 52%. However, it isn’t. Due to the magic of compounding gains week after week you’ll be up 68% in just one year.
Imagine applying this principle all your life. Imagine applying it to more than one thing in your life. Before long, your hopes and dreams will no longer be hopes and dreams…
You’ll get what you want and also everything that you desire. All these for just making a commitment today to ramp up your performance by 1%.
Like I already told you, all you have to do is take ACTION. Make the 1% improvements rule a part of your life. Give 1% more each week. Learn 1% more each week. Profit 1% more each and every week.
Take just one step at a time. Don’t lose your focus. Be persistent. Be consistent. There is not such thing as an Instant result. Don’t lust after Instant results, because they just aren’t there! Just keep moving and take ACTION as you move along. It will definitely come along. By 2008, you’ll be a better 68% YOU… and much more.

[...] Sometimes we can also find ourselves being part of this or a similar situation. The fear of not being able to satisfy others with our work tends to hold us back from doing a particular work we always longed to do. A classic example of this would be the countless New Year resolutions we make each year and which keeps on changing almost everyday because we tend to think that we might not be able to follow the set of rules or goals we have set for ourselves!
